South African Test coach Shukri Conrad Cricket South Africa with regular captain Temba Bavuma
If there is no T20 League SA20, there will be no Test cricket in South Africa, said the team's Test coach Shukri Conrad. Conrad said this in response to criticism that South Africa is sending a second-tier team to New Zealand because the country's top players will be busy in the franchise-based T20 league. He also felt that the national team should find a way to co-exist with the T20 league in the cricket schedule.
Due to scheduling conflicts, South Africa are sending a team led by a captain who is awaiting a Test debut in New Zealand, with seven players without debuts. There is also criticism that South Africa is disrespecting Test cricket. They have to hear more criticism especially from Australia. Former Australia captain Steve Waugh says this is the defining moment in the death of Test cricket.

When asked about Wah's comments, Conrad said, 'I don't think Steve Wah will get too much out of what I said. But it's good to see that everyone outside South Africa has become an expert on South African cricket.'
He also thinks that there was nothing else to do here, 'Our hands are tied. Everyone understands that SA must be 20. SA has to be 20 because it is the lifeblood of South African cricket. Without it we wouldn't actually have Test cricket. We have to find a way to co-exist with this league, we have to co-exist with other leagues in the world to maintain the sustainability of the game.'
